IKON is committed to a program of environmental stewardship, both
in the way we work, and in the way we help our customers work.

Efficient and Green Document Management Solutions
IKON helps our customers design document efficiency strategies that are both
cost-effective and promote the use of sound environmental strategies to help
create a cleaner, healthier world. Some of these strategies include:
- Using multi-function devices that copy, fax, print and scan within one-unit,
resulting in reduced physical space requirements for the device, reduced energy
consumption and reduced supply storage space requirements.
- Creating electronic document workflows to reduce the
amount of hardcopy output.
- Utilizing scan-to-email technology to distribute documents electronically,
and store scanned documents in an electronic repository.
- Using digital technology to print materials on-demand — where and when they
are needed — reducing obsolescence and document storage requirements.

Environmental initiatives are in place throughout IKON locations in North America
and Western Europe. These initiatives include reuse of materials, when possible;
reduction of waste; and partnering with vendors who practice environmental conservation
initiatives.
IKON utilizes cost-effective business practices that support the following principles:
- Conservation of natural resources such as water, energy and materials.
- Protection of the environment by using products, whenever possible, composed
of recyclable or reusable recycled materials and that cause as little environmental
input as possible during manufacture, use and disposal.
- Act in an environmentally responsible manner to minimize the impact to our
employees, community and the environment.
Company-wide use of electronic communication (e.g.,conference calls, e-mail, online
tracking logs, training classes, invoices and electronic funds transfer for billing/
payment) tremendously reduces paper usage and travel.
IKON actively recycles where possible, including aluminum, computer paper, white
bond and book paper, laser printer cartridges, newspapers, plastic, shipping cartons and
packing materials.

Equipment Remanufacturing — IKON Certified Series
IKON remanufactures more than 10,000 office equipment devices every year, saving
environmental resources and reducing waste disposal, while providing customers with
high-quality, low-cost alternatives to newly manufactured equipment.
IKON's remanufacturing operations remanufacture select copier and multi-function
devices for distribution in North America as the IKON Certified Series. The IKON Certified
Series program provides customers with access to highquality, “like-new” zero-meter
equipment and reconditioned devices that cost less than they would if purchased new.
IKON assures the quality and integrity of all IKON Certified Series equipment through
a rigorous 120-step process for remanufacturing and reconditioning.
The remanufacturing process involves the thorough disassembly, inspection, cleaning
and testing of these devices. During the process, key internal parts are replaced
and/or refurbished, with the intention of restoring original performance, appearance
and durability to the product.
- In terms of weight, well over 90% of the postconsumer material found
in the product is retained for the remanufacturing process, including the chassis,
major subassemblies, electronics, and panels.
- For fiscal year 2007, IKON’s remanufacturing operations recovered and
reused more than 4.85 million pounds of material.
- Parts that are deemed unsuitable for reuse are shipped to a recycler,
who separates the waste into useful raw materials, such as metals, glass
and plastics.
- During fiscal year 2007, IKON recycled 32,120 pounds of bond paper, 34,320
pounds of cardboard, and 55,000 pounds of various metals.
- IKON’s remanufacturing operations is ISO9001:2000 registered, and is a
producer of UL listed remanufactured equipment.
In addition, IKON UK and IKON Denmark recently earned the prestigious ISO-14001-2004
accreditation. ISO-14001-2004 provides IKON UK and IKON Denmark with an externally
audited accreditation that demonstrates good environmental practices.

IKON Certified Series Replacement Laser Toner Cartridges
The plastic used in a typical laser cartridge takes approximately 10
centuries — or 1,000 years — to decompose. IKON offers remanufactured
laser toner cartridges that help save you money while saving environmental
resources.
IKON Certified Series replacement laser toner cartridges are built to
IKON’s strict manufacturing specifications, and go through a 20-step ISO
certified remanufacturing process. Each cartridge is tested according to
rigid quality guidelines to help ensure optimal print performance.
As an additional service for our IKON Certified Series cartridge
customers, IKON also offers an inkjet and laser toner recycling where
the reuse, remanufacture or recycling of spent cartridges helps to
achieve our goal of zero landfill. (More information regarding IKON
Certified Series replacement laser toner cartridges is available at
1-888-430-4566.)
On behalf of IKON, EnviroSmart strives to obtain a zero landfill position
with all of the ink jet and toner cartridges returned through this program.
On behalf of IKON, EnviroSmart guarantees that all empty cartridges returned
by IKON Certified Series replacement laser toner cartridge customers will be
reused, remanufactured or recycled.
