Bridgewater’s Jenna Martin was named female athlete of the year
at Sport Nova Scotia’s annual IKON awards on Saturday in Halifax.
The University of Kentucky All-American sprinter is the defending
Athletics Canada Junior Athlete of the Year and owns over 50 provincial
records.
She is currently preparing for the NCAA championships, set for
June 11 to 14, and the Olympic trials from July 3 to 6.
Among the other Lunenburg County recipients at the IKON awards
ceremony were:
- Tim Lohnes, Judo Nova Scotia coach of the year.
- John Peters, Football Nova Scotia official of the year.
- Whitney Lohnes, Judo Nova Scotia official of the year.
- Meryn Avery, Nova Scotia Amateur Diving Association female athlete
of the year.
- Cheryl Meisner, Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation female athlete of the year.
- Krista Stockman, Special Olympics Nova Scotia feamle athlete of the year.
- Lisa Ross, Nova Scotia Yachting Association female athlete of the year.
- Team [Brian] Rafuse, Nova Scotia Curling Association team of the year.
- Scott Patterson, Soccer Nova Scotia volunteer of the year.
