IKON Input & Capture Solutions

During the Input/Capture phase of the document lifecycle, users gather information and input data into a process. Using office applications such as Microsoft Word or Excel to create a document are common ways to capture information electronically, but capture sub-systems typically scan paper documents and keep electronic images. The images can then be processed through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) or forms recognition software to intelligently route them to a business process or add them into a document management system. An example is scanning an invoice, using forms recognition software to pull the company name and invoice number from it and automatically routing it to a finance system.



IKON DocAccel

IKON DocSend, developed by IKON in conjunction with EFI, is a flexible, one-of-a-kind capture-and-delivery system that transforms paper pages into digital files for instantaneous distribution or simplified storage and retrieval.

IKON DocSend allows users to scan pages in full color or black-and-white and preview them on a full-sized screen as thumbnails or full-page images. Edits, enhancements and annotations can be made at the IKON DocSend workstation (including changes to document characteristics such as size, orientation, color and compression). Documents can then be sent to multiple sources, including: e-mail addresses, FTP sites, fax machines/fax servers, connected MFP's (Multi-Functional Products), or your organization's existing document management systems. As well, XML and other files (e.g., index files) can be sent along with the scanned document automatically for use by your document management system.
